occasions had urged resolution of the conflict in line with the principles of international law,
in particular the right to self-determination. The Co-Chairs had also urged that the
expression of the free will of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh should have a legally
binding nature.
152. During the period under review, Armenia had undergone profound changes, which
the Secretary-General had qualified as an excellent example of a peaceful transition of
power. Armenia had intensified its efforts to further promote human rights, including in the
areas of gender equality and the rights of vulnerable groups. The Government had also
prioritized judicial reform, the independence of the judiciary and equality before the law.
II. Conclusions and/or recommendations
153. The following recommendations will be examined by Armenia, which will
provide responses in due time, but no later than the forty-fourth session of the Human
Rights Council:
