A/HRC/48/7 119. Japan valued the continuous actions of Estonia to promote gender equality and to tackle human trafficking. 120. Jordan appreciated the positive developments in Estonia in promoting and respecting human rights and called upon the country to continue implementing national plans and programmes. 121. Kazakhstan commended Estonia for its efforts to receive and integrate refugees into society and to criminalize the engagement of children in acts of war. 122. Latvia highlighted the adoption of the action plan for human rights diplomacy and reducing the gender pay gap. 123. Lebanon welcomed the efforts undertaken to combat domestic violence and hate crimes. 124. Libya appreciated the establishment of a national human rights institution. 125. Lithuania acknowledged the country’s increase in financing the gender equality programme for the period 2020–2023. 126. Luxemburg made recommendations. 127. Malaysia commended Estonia for the steps taken to address incitement to hatred, violence and discrimination, in particular against minorities. 128. Maldives welcomed the approval of the climate change adaptation development plan until 2030 and the domestic violence action plan. 129. Malta commended Estonia for its ratification of the Istanbul Convention. 130. Mauritius commended Estonia for its creation of e-societies, in particular the establishment of an e-voting system. 131. Mexico welcomed the efforts of Estonia to strengthen the mandate of the Chancellor of Justice as a national human rights institution. 132. Mongolia welcomed the expansion of the functions of the Chancellor of Justice and the measures undertaken to combat domestic violence and violence against children. 133. Montenegro commended Estonia for the adoption of the welfare development plan for the period 2016–2023, and for the widespread use of digital technologies. 134. Morocco welcomed the ratification by Estonia of the Protocol to the Forced Labour Convention, 1930 (No. 29) and the establishment of an advisory committee on human rights. 135. In conclusion, the delegation of Estonia expressed its gratitude to all delegations that participated in the third universal periodic review of Estonia. The Government will give all comments and recommendations due consideration, and the recommendations accepted by Estonia would be thoroughly implemented. The follow-up to the accepted universal periodic review recommendations would constitute an essential part of the work of national institutions involved in the protection of human rights. 136. Estonia reaffirmed its commitment to continue promoting and protecting human rights and stated that the universal periodic review remained a valuable part of that work. As a part of the follow-up to the review, Estonia would continue its efforts to become party to several of the remaining human rights conventions, including the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. II. Conclusions and/or recommendations 137.
