Indonesia is commended for its efforts in the field of human rights training and education and is encouraged to continue in this regard, and to provide additional training for law enforcement officials, including prosecutors, police and judges, as well as for security forces.

Indonesia is encouraged to consider engaging in further dialogue at the regional and international level, and share best practices, as requested by States during the interactive dialogue

Indonesia is encouraged to identify its capacity building needs related to the Universal Periodic Review follow-up and seek regional and international cooperation in this regard, including through integration of the Universal Periodic Review recommendations, as appropriate, into its national development strategy and into its dialogue with relevant stakeholders through existing mechanisms. Such capacity-building needs could pertain, inter alia, to issues such as harmonization of local laws with national and international standards or to strengthening national human rights institutions

Indonesia, in line with its National Plan of Action, is encouraged to follow through on its intention to accede to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on involvement of children in armed conflict, the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the sale of Children, child prostitution and child pornography and the Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture, Cruel, Inhuman and Other Degrading Treatment. Indonesia is further encouraged to consider signing the International Convention on the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance

It was recommended that additional capacity-building measures be taken in support of programmes and projects on women and children

Indonesia is commended for enabling a vibrant civil society, including with respect to those engaged in defending human rights, and is encouraged to support and protect their work, including at the provincial and local level as well as in regions with special autonomy

Welcomes Indonesia's reaffirmation of its commitment to combat impunity and encourages it to continue its efforts in this regard.

While acknowledging the efforts made by the Government of Indonesia, it was recommended that such efforts continue to ensure the promotion and protection of all the components of the Indonesian people.

The inclusion of the crime of torture in the new draft criminal code is welcomed and the Government is encouraged to finalize the draft code, taking into account comments received from relevant stakeholders

Ratify the Convention against Discrimination in Education and continue its efforts to ensure access to quality education for disadvantaged children in poor and remote areas

Take all necessary steps to ensure the implementation of the content of the Convention against Discrimination in Education

Provide all assistance necessary to facilitate the social and economic integration of forced returnees

Consider further amendments to its legal frameworks in compliance with international human rights standards

Continue its efforts to ensure that women have access to justice across the country, including establishing well-resourced and accessible specialized courts for women and children

Ratify the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and expedite the ratification process of the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on a communications procedure

Take all necessary steps to ensure the independence of the National Independent Human Rights Commission of Burundi

Protect the rights of migrants, refugees and asylum seekers, including access to judicial review and appeal procedures for foreign minors

Investigate incidents of hate crimes or attacks against refugees and asylum seekers, particularly women and girls, and ensure that perpetrators are held accountable

Finalize the process of ratification to the Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment and also the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families

Continue the reform of its national legal framework for ensuring its compliance with the provisions of the international and regional human rights instruments

Strengthen efforts to eradicate stereotypes and discrimination against migrants, inter alia, by conducting public awareness-raising campaigns to promote tolerance and respect for diversity

Adopt the draft Children’s Code while ensuring its compliance with the provisions of international human rights instruments, and take appropriate measures, including seeking technical assistance from the international community for its effective implementation

Ensure enhanced coordination among the law enforcement agencies in terms of proceeding cases of child abuse

Ensure the human rights of asylum seekers

Strengthen and apply quality standards to national strategies on education and take the necessary measures towards increasing access to education for all

Further strengthen its commitments and take specific actions for independent investigation into all reports of human rights violations against human rights defenders, including the killing of environmental and indigenous human rights defenders, and bring to justice those suspected of criminal responsibility for these crimes

Increase its efforts to reduce unemployment, in particular among young persons, with a view to moving gradually towards the full realization of the right to work

Take the appropriate measures to provide access to quality, multilingual and inclusive education for children, especially for children with disabilities and minorities

Take the necessary steps to ensure that all migrants have access to all necessary health-care and education services, without discrimination

Continue to prosecute acts of racial discrimination and hate speech and adopt a comprehensive strategy to eliminate harmful cultural practices
