Complete the drafting of the national family policy paper in order to adequately address the issue of early and forced marriage

Continue to strengthen the legal, institutional and policy frameworks in order to enhance the protection of human rights

Continue to strengthen the National Human Rights Commission to enable it to carry out its mission more effectively

Further integrate a human-rights based approach into the various national development processes

Scale up the fight against poverty and social inequalities and exclusion

Continue promoting initiatives in defence of international solidarity and equal dialogue at the relevant United Nations organs, including both the Human Rights Council and the Third Committee of United Nations General Assembly organs with a view to promoting human rights and solidarity among all nations and peoples of good will

Continue to implement the existing policy and programmes to eradicate poverty

Continue with the positive steps it has taken in the implementation of the Bangalore Principles of Judicial Conduct

Ratify the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.

Build on the momentum achieved this far in the construction of social housing, with a view to reversing the housing deficit

Continue to make concerted efforts to find a permanent and peaceful solution to the conflict in Darfur

Continue tirelessly to address the issue of resettlement of IDPs including by putting in place resources in provisions of basic services and infrastructure development

Continue to channel her tremendous resources into social programmes with a view to eradicating poverty

Consolidate economic initiatives aimed at empowering its people, especially those who were underprivileged under the Apartheid system

Further accelerate its pro-people, pro-poor socio-economic policies

Continue to implement policies and programmes aimed at fulfilling the interests of the disabled

Continue to extend its State scholarship programmes to ensure that students do not drop out of school because of poverty

Intensify the implementation of its pro-poor policies, projects and programmes

Work towards concluding the ongoing exercise to create a national human rights monitoring and follow-up system

Accelerate the domestication of the provisions of the international human rights instruments to which it is a party

Implement recommendations emanating from the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families and finalize the draft action plan in this regard

Continue to pursue efforts to realize women’s rights and combat gender-based violence

Intensify efforts to improve the well-being of all its citizens, especially the most vulnerable groups

Work on harmonizing national legislation with the provisions of international human rights treaties

Improve access to basic social services, especially for the most vulnerable members of the population

Consolidate existing measures to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment

Strengthen existing measures to raise awareness of and combat discrimination against women

Accelerate the process of updating the Civil Code with a view to enhancing the protection of children’s rights
